Literature Text

There once was a small pond, tucked deep, and tight in a thick forest of oak, and pine, and in this pond lived a Turtle. The Turtle being very slow moving, spent most of his day watching the many creatures that lived in, and around the water. He would watch the Fish play tag, and how they would weave so quickly through the water every which way in an almost rhythmic motion. See the Rabbits as they would laugh and tell jokes to one another, and also listen to the choir of Robins sing their masterpieces atop the tall trees.

But no other creature captivated him as much as did the Swan. She was the most graceful, and most beautiful of all the animals in, not just the pond, but in all the forest. Turtle was infatuated by her gentleness, and the kindness she would show the other animals. Turtle was very much in love. Nothing occupied his thoughts nearly as much she did.

One sunny afternoon, while Turtle was watching Swan dance among the water. He decided that he should go and profess his feelings to her. So he set out to meet her, but being as slow as he was, and her being clear on the other side of the pond, posed a problem for him. For you see, it so happened that Turtle was not swans only admirer. Frog also loved swan, and he was in no way slow. So it came as no surprise when Frog told Swan of his love for her, before turtle even made it half way to her.

So sorrowful and heartbroken, Turtle went back to his home. Knowing that he really could not blame Frog for what he had done, because Frog had done nothing wrong. Frog only did what Turtle had wanted to do for a very long time, only Frog acted on it right away. So as Turtle watched Swan, and Frog swim away together, he couldn't help but feel regret for the way he waited, but at the same time he knew that he could have not done it in any other way but to wait.

Frog had no idea of what he had done. Of how he crushed Turtles dreams. For if he did he would make things right, since he is an honorable creature, and would never do such a thing if only he knew what he was doing. So Turtle accepting the way things go, decided that instead of being sad for himself, he should be happy for Frog. For there is no finer a creature that someone could ask for, than the Swan.
